Conjunctivitis or Inflammation of Conjunctiva: It can be due to infection or allergy. If there is infection, there is purulent discharge and redness. In allergy, the main symptom is itching with watering.
Trachoma: This is a chronic infection of the conjunctiva.
Corneal Ulcer: This is due to a breach in corneal epithelial integrity. It can be sterile or infective.
Spring Catarrh: Commonly seen in children. A disease of conjunctiva and cornea, caused by allergy.
Cataract: Any opacity in the transparent crystalline lens.
Glaucoma: Progressive loss of vision caused by increased intraocular pressure
Retinal Detachment: Detachment of neurosensory retina from the underlying retinal pigment epithelium.
Diabetic Retinopathy: Uncontrolled blood sugar levels may damage retina over a period of time. Vision decreases due to macular edema. There can be fibrovascular proliferation leading to vitreous haemorrhage and traction retinal detachment.
Central Serous Chorioretinopathy: This is characterized by elevation of the macula due to collection of fluid beneath it.
Macular Hole: Full thickness or partial thickness defect in the macula.
Trauma: Trauma can cause a closed globe injury (where the walls of the eyeball are intact) or an open globe injury (where there is breach in the integrity of the eye-wall).
